Sharing from Beth Moon owner and trainer of Dunham Lake Luna Trick “Finnick”…as his breeder, I could not be more proud of Beth and Finnick!

Dunham Lake Aussies making more firsts for our breed! Congratulations Beth and Finnick! Introducing Finnick 𝐒𝐌𝐓𝐱𝟐!

Finnick earned his 2nd Summit title this weekend in Estes Park, Colorado with a 2nd place overall! I’m so proud that he consistently searched his little heart out in a tough trial. I just can’t contain my excitement! In a surprising turn of events he also took 2nd place in the mixed container search, which may have shocked me more than his second place overall. Thanks to my sister Emily for supporting us this weekend. She was with us during our Summit title last fall, so she may be our lucky charm.

** Summit is the highest possible Nosework title in NACSW. It is filled with challenging puzzles, major mind games for the handlers and high highs and low lows. Only the top 20% of dogs title each trial, which makes titles difficult to achieve. This was Finnick’s 4th try and his 2nd title.

Finnick’s favorite game is Nosework and his spunky attitude and his work ethic has made him a great team mate. In April of 2022 Finnick became the first Australian Terrier to earn his AKC Detective title. In May of 2022 Finnick was the first Australian Terrier to earn his CPE Champion title, earning a large Q-tip for his efforts. In NACSW Finnick was the first Australian Terrier to earn the ELT-1 title and he continues to be the dog to beat in many competitions earning many placement awards.
Finnick is full of personality and he enjoys being the nosework clown and making the crowd laugh at his antics. Being a dramatic terrier, he will often jump on the picnic table or bench to turn those high hides into ground hides and he thinks he should earn some style points for his efforts. Even though he is a goofball, his speed always impresses.
Finnick currently holds 50 performance titles and counting in Nosework, Scentwork, Barn Hunt, FastCat and Parkour. We are working with our coach to train for our NACSW Summit title which is a multiple day intense Nosework competition with only the top 20% of dogs titling. Finnick just loves to compete and is always ready to learn something new.

This is huge news! Another incredible first for our breed and another Dunham Lake Aussie making history for our breed! Text and photos below by his owner and trainer Beth Moon. I am over the moon! Congratulations Beth and Finnick you make me so proud!

From Beth: Introducing Summit Dunham Lake Lunatrick “Finnick”The 1st Australian Terrier to earn this elusive title. If I look giddy in the picture it is because I am over the moon and I just can’t believe we titled and took 2nd place in our first Summit trial. Our first search was magic as Finnick darted through an amphitheater picking off hides and earning us a 1st place ribbon. Our last search of the weekend Finnick covered the space and we got out fast, earning another 1st place. We had a few bummer searches but picked ourselves up and kept going. I’m just astonished and so happy. Finnick and I have had our eye on this prize and have worked hard toward this goal and we got a little lucky this weekend too.

So very proud of Dunham Lake LunaTrick "Finnick" BCAT SWM SDW ADP LEVEL 1 CSS-L5 RATS ELT-1 ELT-2 and his owner/ trainer Beth Moon, they are on a roll. He is the first Australian Terrier to earn his ELT 1 & 2 only a few points away from his ELT 3! Two back to back 1st places in elite is pretty rare. I actually don’t know anyone that has pulled that off. Here are some of the video’s from this big day for Finnick his owner Beth Moon, his breeder, me and for the Australian Terrier breed! Making more firsts! What a team! Photo and video's courtesy of his owner/handler Beth Moon.
